Become a visiting student at a PhD course at NHH

Students who would like to attend a PhD courses as a visiting student must apply each semester, within 1 February for spring courses and 1 September for autumn courses and use the portal: Søknadsweb.

How to apply to take a PhD course as a visiting student:

    •  you must upload a copy of one of the following documents for assessment of your qualifications:
      • Documentation of admission in the PhD programme at your home university or
      • Documentation of Research Scholar Position (contract/PhD agreement) or
      • Degree certificate and transcripts of grades (master/PhD level)
    • You must also upload a copy of your passport (for identification)
    • Remember to ensure that all documents are uploaded in pdf-format.
    • If the language of the original document you wish to upload is not English or Scandinavian, a translation must be enclosed.
  • Choose a course:

    • There are several courses available for external students, and you must apply to the course(s) you would like to attend in the portal: Søknadsweb 
    • The courses may have different admission requirements. Please look at the relevant course page for more information.
    • You may return to the application and change your desired courses before the deadline, which is 1 February for spring courses and 1 September for autumn courses.

    • NHH reserves the right to contact institutions, associations and government agencies for the purpose of explanation and/or verification of all submitted documents.
    • You are liable for submitted documents, and that they represent true and unaltered information. Wrongful or misleading information may lead to dismissal. Submission of fraudulent documents is illegal and will be reported to the proper authorities.

    If you fulfil the requirements for admission, you will receive an offer of admission by e-mail. Please note that all information regarding your application will be sent to the email address you provided in your application.

    What happens next?

    • Within 21 days after the admission deadline, we will send you an email with the result of your application. Please ensure that the email address you have registered under "My profile" is correct. It is your responsibility to check it regularly during the admission process.
    • If visa is required, you may contact The Section for Doctoral Education at NHH to get an invitation.

    Do you want to change your course(s)?

    • You may return to the application and change your desired courses before the deadline.
